I had no idea what a nurse navigator was until my husband walked in the hospital after a golf vacation for a supposedly routine surgery and left a tetraplegic.
I had no idea where to start or what to do. Thank God for Digene who came immediately to our family’s rescue. She became our nurse navigator, a Competent professional with a holistic approach.
My husband was in the ICU for 3 weeks and rehab for 3 1/2 months. Digene was at the hospital with me at 6 am for daily doctors’ rounds. When the medical staff saw Digene as my nurse navigator, the temperature in the room changed and the medical attention given to my husband was significantly improved. Their attention to detail was heightened. They gave Digene immediate respect. Digene was known to the staff as a former colleague with top notch experience and a no nonsense attitude.
Digene was my interpreter for the complicated medical condition my husband suffered as well as our counselor, services coordinator, strategist for the next steps for me and my family’s new normal throughout the recovery process and beyond.
I was amazed and baffled by the complexity of the medical system . Digene helped us all survive this tragedy. As a result of her excellent nurse navigation skills, I was able to bring my husband home and take care of him for 10 years until his transition. That was contrary to the Dr’s opinion of my husband prognosis of living for only two years and recommending his placement in a facility.
My nurse navigator made another reality come true.
I now know what a nurse navigator is: a God send and a life saver.

Digene's experience and expertise were invaluable while navigating Eldercare respite options for my mother. Her understanding of the system resulted in finding the perfect accommodations and services for my loved one's challenges. Digene is a patient and compassionate professional. Her caring extends to her clients as well as their loved ones. The thing is, you don't know what you don't know, so investing in a trusted, connected and knowledgeable advocate saves time and money.
Thank you, Digene for your optimistic attitude, guidance and support.

In 2015, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Nothing could have prepared me for the journey ahead.
However, when I broke the news to
Digene Farrar she rolled up her sleeves and committed to being my advocate from beginning to end.
“We will get through this,” is what she said and we did!
I have since had cancer 2 more times, over the last 10 years. It spread from my breast to my lymph nodes to my neck and landed in my brain. Both times I enlisted her services.
What I didn’t know is how crucial it is to have someone by your side to help you navigate the very complicated health care system. When you are suffering and fighting everyday to live, it’s hard to make life altering decisions that not only affect you, but your family.
Digene, being a nurse, is able to speak the language of medical professionals. That coupled with her wisdom, warmth, and kindness allows her to move with ease between the needs of the patient and the medical staff, providing you with the most efficient care.
